Is Luxury Vinyl Flooring Right for Your Kitchen or Bathroom?
Updated on: November 5, 2025
When you think about the hardest-working rooms in your home—the kitchen and the bathroom—we at Canopy Floors believe they should be just as stunning as they are functional. We're founded by the Dossche Family, and our long-standing history in the flooring world means we're obsessed with materials that stand up to real life.
Our Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) and Canopy Flex (our self-adhering tile product) weren't just designed in a lab; they were developed by a next-gen crew who actually know what it means to deal with spills, splashes, and the daily grind of parenthood.
For years, ceramic tile was the automatic choice for wet areas. It works, sure, but it's hard, cold, and a pain to install (not to mention expensive).
We’re here to offer a regret-free floor solution that not only gives you the stunning, realistic visuals you crave but also adds superior protection and, crucially, a level of comfort that tile simply can’t touch.

Kitchen Confidence: Comfort Meets Chaos
The kitchen sees the heaviest, messiest traffic. It needs a floor that’s tough, safe, and comfortable for long hours spent cooking and hosting.
Superior Comfort Underfoot
Many LVP products are built with a thin, rigid SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) core. While SPC is tough, it often feels hard, cold, and unforgiving on your body.
Canopy's LVP, however, is built with a thick WPC (Waterproof Plastic Composite) core, which is much thicker and more cushioned.
- Standing Power: When you're spending hours at the counter prepping meals, the Canopy Comfort, Comfort Enhanced, and Comfort Premium lines provide a softer, warmer, and more forgiving surface than tile or thin SPC. Your back and feet will absolutely thank you.
- Acoustics: The thicker WPC core also helps with sound dampening, making those busy kitchen hours a little quieter—a true blessing for the family juggling the everyday life of parenthood.
The Spills and Subfloor Reality
This is where the rubber meets the road. While your Canopy LVP plank is 100% waterproof, the seams are not.
- Clean Up ASAP: Large spills and puddles must be swept up and wiped away as soon as possible and absolutely cannot sit for days.
- Subfloor Safety: Remember, liquids can eventually seep through the floating click joints and compromise your subfloor, which is not waterproof. Our floor protects itself from water damage; you need to protect the structure beneath it.
- Stain Smarts: Canopy LVP is highly stain-resistant, but they are not entirely stain-proof, so prompt cleanup of dyes and harsh chemicals is always the safest bet.
Bathroom Bliss: Style Without the Scrape
The bathroom requires a floor that’s resistant to humidity, steam, and splashes. This is where the innovation of our stone-look tile shines.
Introducing Canopy Flex: Tile, Made Better
If you love the classic look of marble, slate, or other natural stone looks in your bathroom, forget the old tile routine. That's Canopy Flex—our self-adhering tile product.
- No Grout Headache: Traditional tile means messy, time-consuming grouting upon installation and frustrating, cracking, scrubbing grout lines forever after. Canopy Flex elegantly solves this by integrating the grout line right into the tile's bevel. This patented design gives you the refined, finished look of grout without the labor, the mess, or the cracking. It's a key feature missing on most other tile-look loose lay products.
- Flexible and Stable: Canopy Flex is a self-adhering loose lay product that features patented SetaGrip™ technology and a fiberglass mesh layer for extra stability. This means it adheres securely without messy glue, can be installed without acclimation, and handles the unique movements of a bathroom floor.
- The Comfort Factor: Unlike cold, hard ceramic tile, Canopy Flex has a soft, cushioned backing that makes it much warmer and more comfortable underfoot—especially on those chilly mornings.
The choice is clear: you can have floors that look stunning and perform without the headache of cold, hard tile or the constant fear of water damage.
Canopy Floors offers the perfect marriage of comfort and confidence for your wet areas.
